Jinjer‘s concert at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on September 20, 2024, was a masterclass in progressive metal energy. The Ukrainian band, fronted by the beautiful and vibrant Tatiana Shmailyuk, delivered a relentless, high-energy performance that showcased their technical ability
and stage presence. Fans were treated to a setlist that has spanned the band’s career, featuring heavy new hitter “Rogue” and eventually closing out this intense show with “Vortex“. With each
band member’s flawless timing and talent, Tatiana effortlessly sings while shifting between her deep growls and otherworldly clean vocals. Her intensity was matched by the tight
instrumentation of the band, with Roman Ibramkhalilov‘s intricate guitar work and Eugene Kostyuk’s heavy basslines propelling the performance forward. Let us not forget the heavy and quick hitting Vladislav Ulasevish, whose softest touch on his kit brings a perfect range of
dynamics from verse to chorus.
The atmosphere at Starland Ballroom was electric, with the crowd feeding off Jinjer’s aggressive sound and stage presence. Known for pushing boundaries within the metal genre, Jinjer brought their unique blend of groove, progressive metal, and even a touch of deathcore to life in a raw,
unapologetic fashion. From seeing Jinjer perform both at large outside arena type venues to those performances within a smaller enclosed venue… the band has yet to let me down with putting on a perfect and flawless show from start to finish.
