Most bands never get to celebrate 40 years together, but in the case of Stryper, they just keep raising the bar to greatness. Stryper somehow never fails to deliver an epic show, keep the show interesting and just rock a venue with the best bands around.
Stryper’s 40th Anniversary Tour was broken up into two sets, the band played their way through an extensive catalog of hit songs. Mixing new music with songs not played since the 1980’s.
The entire first set featured all the classic hits from The Yellow and Black Attack all the way through Against the Law. With songs like “Loud n’ Clear”, “Are You Feeling Lonely”, “Soldiers Under Command”, “The Rock That Makes Me Roll” and of course “To Hell With the Devil.” All of these songs come out like they still have something to prove. That’s the sign of a great metal band.
As the band tossed Bibles out to the crowd, they talked about it while doing so. Frontman Michael Sweet even joked about people getting bloody noses and how his brother Robert used to tape the small New Testaments up so that they would fly farther. Michael stated: “In the early days, we just tossed the Bibles out without any stickers on them, then we added stickers onto the books. The stickers would then sometimes be left on the floor afterwards. Then we started putting Stryper stickers on them and never saw one on the floor since.”
It was absolutely outstanding to hear all that history in their music and realize how much butt kicking this band has done over the past 40 years.
