Stepping into the Ocean Casino, it was evident that this would be a night unlike any normal night. People adorned themselves with black makeup around their eyes, proudly displaying snake toys around their necks. Everywhere you turned, you heard people singing songs and you were greeted by shirts proudly displaying the name “Alice Cooper” on them.
Alice Cooper and his “Too Close for Comfort” tour graced the stage of Ovation Hall at the Ocean Casino in Atlantic City on May 24, 2025. Known as the “Godfather of Shock Rock,” Alice has been electrifying fans for over five and a half decades, consistently proving his status as the undisputed king of Shock Rock.
As the lights dimmed, fans erupted in cheers, their excitement palpable. Two masked individuals, dressed as plaque doctors, made their way across the stage, ringing bells. The curtain then fell, revealing a jumbo newspaper with the headline “Banned in New Jersey!” prominently displayed. As the band launched into their first song, “Lock Me Up,” Alice skillfully sliced through the newspaper with a sword and walked towards the crowd.
The stage was set with a castle-like structure, featuring jumbo video screens in the back. Band members moved fluidly across the stage, while Alice’s voice resonated with power and passion. The audience was in a frenzy, captivated by the electrifying performance. Cooper wasted no time in delivering a barrage of hit songs, including “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “I’m Eighteen,” and “Billion Dollar Babies.” He then delved into classic tracks like “Welcome to My Nightmare,” “Cold Ethyl,” “Go To Hell,” and the timeless “Schools Out.”
Throughout the concert, the band and Alice shared infectious smiles, their joy palpable. This was undoubtedly one of the best Cooper shows I’ve ever witnessed, surpassing even my first encounter with him in 1982. With a fan base that spans generations, from silver-haired veterans to young rookies, Alice Cooper’s enduring legacy as an icon and legend shines through. He’s not just a musician; he’s a true musical force of nature, one of the greatest of all time.
