Over four decades ago, the legendary band The WHO performed their final show in Toronto, which was later proven to be a misconception. However, their “The Song Is Over North American Farewell Tour” is now making its rounds in sixteen cities across the country, leaving fans with the realization that this will be the last time Roger Daltrey will spin his microphone or Peter Townsend will execute his signature guitar windmill moves live on stage.
On September 10, 2025, the farewell tour arrived in Philadelphia at the Xfinity Mobile Arena for the band’s final show in the area. Fans were filled with excitement and anticipation, ready to witness history being made that night. Everywhere you looked, people in attendance were singing along to the band’s songs, wearing shirts from different eras, and creating a vibrant atmosphere.
Shortly before 9 pm, the crowd erupted in cheers as Roger Daltrey and Peter Townsend made their grand entrance to the stage. Their faces lit up with smiles, as they waved enthusiastically at the passionate audience. These two rock legends, known for their iconic performances, couldn’t resist teasing each other about their ages. Roger Daltrey chuckled heartily and quipped, “Alright, everyone, let’s get this show on the going so the old men can finally get some rest.”
The band commenced their performance with the first song of the night, “I Can’t Explain,” as fans eagerly stood up and prepared for an unforgettable night of music. As the first song concluded, the band seamlessly transitioned into the next song of their extensive 21-song setlist, featuring numerous hit songs such as “Who Are You,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Behind Blue Eyes,” and the iconic smash hit “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The historic night reached its climax with both Daltrey and Townsend taking the stage for the acoustic rendition of “Tea & Theatre.” With a final bow and a wave to the captivated crowd, both musicians gracefully departed the stage, leaving behind an indelible mark on the annals of music history.
This night, should it be the last time The Who plays in the Philadelphia area, was truly unforgettable. From the laughter to the cherished memories, it was a night dedicated to expressing gratitude to the band for the incredible experiences they’ve shared over the past six decades.
